You're right it is a very childish way to act but that is how they choose to be. Sadly the joke is on them because they are wasting their lives following the rules of a cult that could care less about them. At least you are out of it and are hopefully moving on.

Update on shunning@the store. Watchtower victorious.

after all my friends and my efforts, the shunning carries on.. the 3 people who were shunning me at my local supermarket, still, are carrying on this practice.. little subtleties like avoiding eye contact, making busy as i walk past and looks out of the corner of their eyes.
you know the modus operandi.. nothing now the store can do about it.

2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

I would have to ask them when it is. I have no clue. Is it tonight? I suspect it is because my wife is going to the KH tonight.
I would also tell them. "You won't go to church with me. Why should I go to your church" And like the above post I would tell then there is nothing in the Bible that commands anyone to go to a KH on a certain day once a year and snub his offer.

So what happens if someone living there wakes up to the truth and leaves the Watchtower? Or JW's spouse dies and the remaining JW marries a non JW then the JW dies and the non JW spouse moves another non JW in? I don't see how they can force someone to move on the basis of what they believe or don't believe.

I wish that there were a way to get them to see that it isn't Satan that is making them depressed. It's being a Jehovah's Witness that is depressing them.
They are part of an organization that bullies and forces them to believe every thing that they say even though they never get anything right.
It has been 100 years since 1914. The year they claim Christ returned yet nothing has happened. The generation that wouldn't pass away did. They waste their time going door to door peddling a stale message that almost no one is interested in. They waste their evenings and weekends going boring meetings listening to the same old crap year after year. They are on a pointless religious treadmill and don't seem to know how break free of it yet they try to suck others back into their sad situation. Mind control at its finest.
You stump them when they find you well and happy. They have been told that shouldn't be the case.

that was 42 years ago.. they did this with a special awake in october of 1972. they devoted the full issue to the subject.
it rivals the infamous "is it later than you think" special awake of october 8 1968 in its grandiose predictions.. the october 8 issue of awake 1972 is must reading in view of the latest discussion of peace and security.. here are a few exerpts with the grandiose statements in red.

If I remember correctly there was also some sort of peace and securtity book that came out around that time and also some last minute (just before the end of the world) special tract work being carried out in earnest at that time. And here we are forty plus years later.
